What is a Mag?

Mags are small robot companions that hover behind you, depending on how the Mag is raised, they will boost your stats allowing you to equip weapons, units and learn technique/photon arts discs.

How do you obtain one?

First, obtain Lv. 5 in any class and you will receive a message by Koffee telling you to come speak with her. She will then give you the Client Order: 「マグライセンス授与申請試練」 (Mag License Application Test) which you will need to complete in order to gain clearance to raise Mags.

The Mag License Application Test is fairly simple, acquire 「フォンガルフの頭角」 x10 (Fongalf Crests) from the large wolves known as フォンガルフ (Fongalf) in the forest. Upon successfully passing the test, you will be awarded your first Mag.

Warning: The first Mag you receive is available free of charge, any subsequent Mags you wish to obtain will cost real-money currency or Arks Cash(AC).

Mags, how do they work?

In addition to boosting your stats, Mags can also attack enemies and also have abilities that trigger depending on certain situations. I won't go into much detail about these abilities but they range from healing you when your health is below a certain percentage to causing you to be momentarily immune from harm.

Mags after evolving for the first time (at Lv. 30) will gain a Phantom Beast, by absorbing the photons in the air, this allows the Mag to momentarily transform to either attack enemies or support you. To "charge" the Mag, you can do this in two ways: defeat enemies or get hurt in battle. Mags will attempt to evolve at every 5 level intervals if certain stat requirements are met.

Important Note: Remember, after gaining the ability to summon the beast, remember to set the skill on your sub-pallet.

Summoning a Phantom Beast is known as a Photon Blast, you can chain this with other players if you hold down the assigned key. Just make sure you are in close proximity or else the chain will not work.

Mags get hungry?

Whenever a Mag attacks an enemy or uses one of its trigger abilities, it uses up some of its energy. To replenish this energy, a Mag will consume items under 7★. Depending on what the item is, it will increase or decrease one of its stat points, by reaching the required amount the stat will level up.

Note: Mags will not eat if their energy meter is full, the maximum number of times you can feed a mag in succession from 0% energy is 3 times.

The amount of points required by the mag to level up a stat point depends on its current stat level, the following is a chart detailing that:

Warning: Once a stat has leveled up there is no way to decrease it unless you use a Mag Reset Device (AC Item).
Using it will completely reset all your current Mags' levels to Lv. 0.
If you haven't gotten too far with your character, you should just delete and remake your character, otherwise it is recommended you buy a new Mag because it is cheaper than getting a Mag Reset Device.
